I love the ambiance of this little town.
For many years, the main draw card for me in visiting San Francisco was to visit the little town of Carmel By the Sea, often called simply Carmel. My wish has been fulfilled and I was not disappointed.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is located on the Pacific coast about 190 k’s south of San Francisco.
This World-renowned town has inspired artists, sparked romances, and attracted celebrities for decades. Carmel-by-the-Sea is an amazing, European-style village nestled above a picturesque white-sand beach. Carmel has had many famous mayors including actor Clint Eastwood.
Carmel has so much to offer, from performing arts and cultural activities to hundreds of Carmel shops, restaurants, wine tasting, art galleries, and more .
The city is known for being dog-friendly, with numerous hotels, restaurants and retail establishments admitting guests with dogs.
This super cute village looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Many of the stores and homes have “hobbit” type architecture with sloped roofs and rounded doors – very unique and charming.
There are so many cute shops, restaurants and charming little cottages and many eateries with seating both inside and outside.
The many shops include high end to souvenir, cafes and bakeries, It is very easy to take a short stroll down to the beach from the main shopping area.
The abundance of flowers everywhere were dreamlike. They were so beautiful that they almost looked artificial.
The town is magical and I could easily spend longer here. If you get a chance to visit Carmel you won’t be disappointed plus you will get exercise walking up and down the lovely streets.
Carmel is a pleasure and a treasure. A sea change from busy San Francisco.
Yes Gail, most definitely a treasure and a pleasure and a wonderful sea change from SF

I stopped here over 30 years ago when I drove from San Francisco to San Diego via the PCH. I have wanted to return ever since. Thanks for a little something to tide me over Lyn. It is a magical little town.
Thanks Rae. I have had a little desire to go there for many many years. It was just so delightful. It was probably even nicer 30 years ago when there were less tourists.
I am hoping to drive the northern part of the coast again. Big Sur area….just such a breathtaking area.
How very nice

I love Carmel. My aunt lived was a nun who lived in the Carmelite Monastery on the highway just outside of town. It was wild and beautiful, with the ocean churning out to the horizon. Carmel is classy..
Yes Susan. I was very happy to spend time there. Just so lovely
