When I think San Francisco – I think Golden Gate Bridge.
Another must see in San Francisco is the famous Golden Gate Bridge. It is actually very easy to see and probably very difficult to miss. The Golden Gate is a lovely bridge to sail under, drive over and view from anywhere in San Francisco. I am sure it is beautiful in all weather, and at any time of the day
Although it is now about 80 years old it still remains the most visited and photographed bridge in the world. Just one look at it and you can understand why. It is such an amazing sight. You can see the bridge from several different places including walking across the bridge
At the edge of the bridge there are many places where you can take pictures including a cafe with a view of the bridge. Remember to bring a camera to capture the great views and a jacket as it can be pretty brisk or even very windy.
You simply cannot visit San Francisco and not visit the Golden Gate Bridge. We enjoyed crossing it both ways on the Hop on Hop off bus. The day we were on the bridge the traffic was really heavy so I had plenty of time to take many photos of the bridge and the bay.
If you are a bike rider the ideal way to experience it, is to rent a bike in the city somewhere and ride the bike over and back across the bridge. Traffic is now separated; pedestrians walk the bay side, while bicycle riders use the Pacific side of the bridge. Some people ride just one way, go to Sausalito, stopping for lunch, coffee or just a visit, and then return to San Francisco across the bay on the ferry. On the late afternoon ferry that we returned to Fisherman’s Wharf on, there were dozens of folks with their bikes.
There is nothing quite like the views from the Golden Gate Bridge. No matter how you cross – by bike, by vehicle or on foot, it could be one of your top memories of your visit to San Francisco
Loved The City by the Bay. DD
Thanks DD. Yes it is pretty special

Those pictures of the bridge brings back fond memories of traveling on it with a special friend!
Thanks Linda. The bridge is worthy of its own story hey. My blog posts always bring back memories, and especially the special memories.
Very nice pictures. Golden Gate Bridge is definitely a muss-see which will always remind me of the time I was in the city. :)
It is fabulous hey. Thanks for stopping by
My pleasure :)
Very beautiful! I believe the same man that designed the Golden Gate Bridge also designed the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York. I remember years ago jogging across the Golden Gate. Not sure I made it to the other side, but I did a stretch of it:)
Thanks Susan. Bridges can have so much meaning as well as purpose. The Golden gate is particularly special On 21/10/2015 12:34 PM, “Travelling Italy with Lyn” wrote:

I love the Marin side of the bridge. There is a road that goes up the mountain with views of the bridge and SF in the background. I have taken many photos of this wonderful bridge.
Thanks George. That sounds like a must do next time On 22/10/2015 2:44 AM, “Travelling Italy with Lyn” wrote:

I did that bike ride to Sausalito and back when I lived in The City. That was when San Francisco was affordable for we in the proletariat.
That would have been wonderful. I really enjoyed SF. It had been on my wish list for many years and I was not disappointed. Thanks, Lyn
